What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic pain, fatigue and tenderness throughout the body. Increased sensitivity to stimuli can cause those suffering from fibromyalgia to result in sleep disturbances, numbness in various body parts, cause excruciating migraines and increase heart palpitations.

There is no immediate cure for fibromyalgia, but stem cell treatment has shown a significant improvement in the patient’s condition resulting in the mitigation of symptoms and an increased quality of life.

Does Stem Cell Therapy Work for Fibromyalgia?

Stem cells are the body’s materials that have the power to regenerate through self-division; they have the ability to become new stem cells or become specialized cells that serve a specific function that aids the healthy maintenance of blood, brain, heart and bone cells.

Mesenchymal stem cells, or MSCs, are blank cells that have the ability to take the form of any other cells. Their primary function is to find damaged tissue and rapidly replace it. The use of a stem cell therapy treatment is to exponentially increase the body’s number of stem cells to increase the chances of diminishing negative fibromyalgia symptoms.

The stem cell treatment boosts the body’s anti-inflammatory properties that protect and heals the neurons in the body. Negative symptoms are diminished, as stem cells successfully regulate the neural functions, decreasing overall nerve pain.

Aside from boosting the number of cells in the body, stem cell therapy only uses natural products derived from your own body, avoiding harmful additives and drugs.

Are Stem Cell Treatments Painful?

A local anesthetic is used resulting in minimal discomfort. Some patients have reported mild swelling in a targeted area but minimal to zero immediate effects for most patients. There may be some mild soreness in the injected area for up to a week after treatment, but no severe side-effects have been reported.

Treatment Process

A fibromyalgia stem cell treatment should only be performed by a licensed physician specialized in stem cell regenerative medicine.

Our team of stem cell specialists begins your consultation where they will conduct a physical assessment and supporting therapies. Our licensed physicians will discuss the protocols and process with you and begin the process of treatment. Treatment can be performed in a matter of hours, commencing with harvesting a fatty tissue sample.

The scientific process of stem cell treatment commences with the adipose fat that withholds an abundance of MSCs begins the immediate process called centrifugation; this cycle separates the stem cells from the other components of the fatty tissue. The centrifugation process allows the cells to become highly concentrated, which creates the crucial serum that will be injected back into the body.

Cost and Insurance Coverage

California is one of six states in the United States that actively support and fund stem cell research. Though stem cell treatments in California cost anywhere from $5000 to $20,000 depending on the region you are getting treated, Medicare and Medicare Advantage covers parts of fibromyalgia stem cell treatments.

Coverage varies between insurance companies and it is highly advised to speak with your individual insurance company.

Post-Care Expectations and Timelines

The use of anti-inflammatory products should be avoided during the first two weeks post-treatment to avoid interference with the stem cell function.

Most patients feel no improvement within 3 weeks, while some patients have seen their overall fibromyalgia symptoms improve within 8 weeks. A large percentage of patients noticed a continued improvement lasting over 6 months.

Stem cell treatment vaccinations can relieve negative chronic symptoms that can last up to three years.

All questions and concerns should be directed to one of our specialists, as individual cases will vary from patient to patient.
